‘Residential’ is a large and complex sector in which PTSG is active in many areas. It includes Social Housing – see below for more detail.
The residential sector in the UK encompasses a diverse range of housing options, including homes for ownership and rental. The sector is influenced by factors such as property prices, housing policies, demographic trends and economic conditions.
Housing can be broadly categorised as follows:
- Detached Houses: Standalone homes not attached to any other property
- Semi-Detached Houses: Two houses joined together, sharing a common wall
- Terraced Houses: Rows of houses connected on both sides
- Apartments/Flats: Multi-unit buildings with individual living units
Homeownership is a significant aspect of the UK residential sector. Many individuals aspire to own their homes, and various government schemes, such as Help to Buy, aim to support first-time buyers.
Student accommodation is a specific part of the residential sector to which PTSG continues to deliver specialist services at sites throughout the UK. Accommodation ranges from university-owned and managed halls of residence to private purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), shared houses, and flats.
PTSG has delivered contracts for a number of student accommodation providers, including numerous contracts for Unite and Student Roost, as well as working directly with many universities.
The case studies below give a snapshot of the contracts completed by PTSG’s engineers from its different business divisions:
- Installing rope access and fall protection systems at the Dolphin Square Restoration Project in London
- Replacing the building maintenance unit (BMU) at Empire Way, part of a new-build residential development in North-West London
- Installing a sprinkler system throughout Springside, Edinburgh – Moda Living’s fifth site in the UK
- A wide variety of specialist service at Dickens Yard in a long-standing contract
A full compliance service for Social Housing

PTSG works closely and collaboratively with housing associations and local authorities to ensure their compliance needs are met for the different facilities within properties including electrical compliance testing, fire safety and water services and hygiene.
We can deliver one specialist compliance service or any combination to meet our customers’ needs. Delivering a bundled services package can bring significant advantages in terms of cost savings and simplicity, with one dedicated account manager for all work involved.
