Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to provide specialist fire solutions at Santander’s HQ in Milton Keynes.
In 2021, Santander announced that its head office would be moving 50 miles north-west from central London to a site opposite the railway station in Milton Keynes. The new £150m, 44,000 square-metre head office is scheduled for completion in 2023.
The project was originally scoped as a hub for Santander’s IT and technology workers, but in March the Spanish group announced it would become its UK headquarters. At the same time, it will cut space at its current base near Euston station.
Engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will be delivering a new sprinkler system at the new Milton Keynes headquarters. Sprinkler systems are the most effective means of fire suppression in commercial and residential buildings.
A sprinkler system comprises of three main components:
- A water supply, which may be the town mains in the street (if adequate in capability); a sectional water tank and pump set or similar self-contained water source.
- A means of controlling the supply of water into the sprinkler system, usually through sets of valves, a network of pipes and individual zones.
- An array of sprinkler heads strategically placed throughout the protected area to the requirements of the relevant standard.
