The Business Development Director for Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), Tanya Matthews, has announced she has been shortlisted from EMCOR’s supply chain to take on the Three Peaks Challenge with them.
Tanya will be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The team’s collective aim is to raise £62,483, which would pay for a Macmillan Nurse for 1 year, helping people living with cancer and their families to receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
The Three Peaks Challenge is one of the UK’s best known mountain challenge events, which involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. At midday
on Wednesday 7th June, a team of 21 climbers made up of 11 EMCOR UK
employees and 10 supply chain partners will commence the ascent of Ben Nevis, Scotland. This will be followed by Scafell Pike, England, which will be climbed during the middle of the night. The final climb will be Mount Snowdon, Wales.
The challenge is to climb the three highest mountains in the UK in just a 24-hour period. To complete the challenge the team must complete the 26 miles of walking, 11,182ft total ascent and 462 miles of travelling before midday on Thursday 8th June.
Here’s Tanya’s story and why she is part of the climbing team.
“I was 8 years old when I first witnessed the pain and suffering that cancer causes when my classmate, David, lost his life to leukaemia after an 18-month battle. Over the years, friends and family, most recently my aunt, have also had to battle this disease. My mother also spent over 10 years managing charity shops that supported both Cancer Research and Macmillan nurses.
“PTSG are supporting me in this challenge with EMCOR, which I am completing to help raise vital funds for those who really need the fantastic support that Macmillan cancer provide.”
