London Fire Brigade has contracted Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) to deliver specialist Access & Safety services.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) is the fire and rescue service for London. Under the leadership of Superintendent Eyre Massey Shaw, it formed through the Metropolitan Fire Brigade Act of 1865. It has 5,992 staff, including 5,096 operational firefighters and officers based at 102 fire stations (plus one river station).
The LFB has 102 fire stations, including one river station, across the 32 London boroughs and the City of London. Full-time employees of the brigade staff them 24 hours each day and link them to a control center in Merton. In 2015/16, the average response time for the first appliance to the scene was 5 minutes 33 seconds (six-minute target), and the second appliance to the scene was 6 minutes 55 seconds (eight-minute target).
In this contract, engineers from PTSG Access & Safety Ltd will test fall arrest equipment to the roofs of LFB’s fire stations to enable maintenance operatives to continue to carry out their work at height safely.
PTSG delivers a significant proportion of its specialist services at height. The Group began trading 16 years ago. PTSG has been uncompromising in its approach to safety and continues to work to the rule. “If it can’t be done safely, we won’t do it”. This has led to numerous RoSPA Golds as well as a distinction form the British Safety Council.
