Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been awarded a contract to deliver specialist fire solutions at a large fulfilment centre in the south-west of England
The client is a major online retailer with a presence worldwide. In the UK alone, the client boasts of over 20 state-of-the-art fulfilment and distribution centres. The fulfilment centre in this contract is a 500,000 square-foot building as big as eight football pitches. Around 2,000 employees travel from surrounding regions including Wales, which is just across the Severn Bridge, to ensure that customers’ orders are packaged and quickly delivered to their doorsteps.
PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will upgrade obsolete and non-functioning fire alarm aspirating units with new Honeywell Vesda units. The decision to provide fire solutions was taken following investigations after locating installation errors when the England facility was built.
An aspirating smoke detector (ASD) is a system used in active fire protection. It consists of a central detection unit which draws air through a network of pipes to detect smoke. PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will carry out further work for this client at distribution centres in Dartford, Dunstable and Coalville.
