Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has continued its recent strong form in specialist industry awards with the announcement that it is a finalist in two categories of the 2020 Construction News Specialists Awards.
Now in their 16th year, the Specialists Awards are the only national awards recognising the outstanding achievements of specialist contractors. The maximum-integrity face-to-face judging process highlights the very best inspirational businesses and projects.
PTSG is a finalist in Project of the Year by a Specialist Contractor (sub-contract £2m-£5m) for its work at The Scalpel (52 Lime Street, London). This spectacular new skyscraper is 190 metres tall and offers over 500,000 square feet of commercial space and 12,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. PTSG Access & Safety Ltd (Surrey office) designed and installed two of the world’s largest building maintenance units (BMUs) at the building, as well as a series of intricate moving roofs to house the BMUs.
In the Equipment Specialist of the Year category, PTSG has been shortlisted for its work at One Blackfriars – another iconic London skyscraper, also known as The Vase. It stands 52 storeys high and contains 9,100 panes of glass in the inner and outer facades, 13 times more than in the Louvre Pyramid. PTSG installed three BMUs with interlinked opening doors on level 44. Their compact design allows them to be parked within a very small area behind glazed doors, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing solution.
In February 2020, PTSG will give a presentation to the judges revealing more about the specialist nature of their work on the two projects. All the winners will be announced at the Construction News Specialists Awards on Wednesday 25th March 2020 at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London.
