Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), via constituent company Total Environmental Compliance (TEC), has successfully taken preventative action to reduce the risk of legionella bacteria for one of its clients.

TEC’s specialist team was due to carry out a routine cold water storage tank clean and disinfection in a multi-occupancy building, but upon inspection discovered an issue when isolating the tanks.

Both tank isolation butterfly valves were found to be significantly damaged due to internal corrosion. Corrosion releases ferric oxide which is a nutrient required for the proliferation of legionella bacteria. The corrosion can only be observed on the internal parts of the valves – therefore, the valves needed to be removed to allow internal inspection.

TEC’s plumbing team took immediate action to replace the faulty valves on the cold-water storage tank with new isolation valves approved by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS).

PTSG Waterer Treatment Ltd is a trusted partner to is clients, ensuring water safety, protection from Legionella and decontamination from many other bacteria and viruses.

The Group is a member of the Legionella Control Association (LCA). ItsQuality Management System for all work activities is upgraded to the ISO 9001/ISO 14001/ISO 45001 standards. It is a Constructionline approved contractor and is accredited by the Source Testing Association (STA), SafeContractor, CHAS and BOHS.
