Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has contracted to deliver specialist electrical services, specifically, lightning protection system at Oriel, a new world-leading center for advancing eye health located in the King’s Cross area of London.
This is a radical approach to sight-related medicine. Oriel aims to drive innovation and promotes inter-disciplinary collaboration. The goal is to speed up the translation of research into treatment. This is to improve people’s sight. Oriel is a joint partnership. It involves Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology (IoO), and Moorfields Eye Charity.
Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) owned the two-acre site earmarked for Oriel. Moorfields acquired the site on 1 February 2023 through an NHS-to-NHS transaction approved by the Secretary of State for Health.
The new centre, which is part of the New Hospital Programme, is the biggest hospital building programme in a generation. It will harness the expertise of the partners under one roof. It will also enable closer collaborative working between clinicians and researchers to speed up the delivery of the highest quality treatments and therapies for patients.
In this contract, engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd will install a brand-new lightning protection system. This will protect the new facility and its users in the event of an electrical storm.
