Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist fall protection services at a brand-new residential development in Bermondsey, South London.

Work has been well underway since the summer of 2024 on a development in Bermondsey that will comprise 1,624 homes upon completion. The site is a former biscuit factory operated by Peek Freans, which closed in 2001. Much of the site has been empty for a considerable amount of time. In 2022, the site was acquired by a developer for £973 million for a build-to-rent development. Future occupants will have good transport links, being close to Bermondsey tube station on the Jubilee Line.

In this contract, engineers from PTSG Access & Safety Ltd will supply and commission a rope access davit system (from supplier SEP), a glass replacement system (from supplier Fall Protec) and lifelines (from supplier MSA). The primary difference between lanyards and self-retracting lifelines (SRLs) is that lanyards offer a fixed length of safety protection. In contrast, SRLs offer more mobility due to the retractable lines used to arrest a fall.

For PTSG, access and safety encompass all types of equipment that allows engineers to safely access all areas of every kind of building to carry out specialist services – from the testing and certification of roof anchor points to the servicing and maintenance of the world’s largest BMUs.
