Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist electrical services at a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) in Stratford, East London.

Watkin Jones plc and Housing Group Partnership formed a joint venture to deliver a £120 million 397-bed PBSA on a one-acre brownfield site on Grove Crescent. The development will also include c2,000m² of commercial space.

The scheme is conveniently located to cater for the circa 14,000 students studying at UCL East and UAL’s London College of Fashion campuses in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, as well as the nearby Birkbeck College and UEL University Square Stratford campus. Completion of the development is targeted for the start of the 2026/27 academic year. It will help to address the persistent national shortage of rental homes for students.

In this contract, engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd will install a new lightning protection system to protect the structure and its users in the event of an electrical storms.

PTSG is the UK’s leading provider of lightning protection services. Essex-based JW Gray, which is a constituent company of PTSG, began trading in 1835, which means PTSG is believed to be the oldest trading provider of lightning protection services in the UK and possibly even in Europe.
