Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a project to deliver urgent steeplejack services at a major glassworks plant in Scotland.

Following a structural inspection of a 70-metre reinforced concrete chimney, carried out by specialist engineers from PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd, major delamination (splitting apart into two layers) of the concrete was identified within the external shell, which posed an immediate danger to the active plant and people working directly below.

With a direct instruction from the client to make the industrial chimney safe, PTSG’s steeplejacks erected bespoke frames around the chimney top to provide 360-degree access. Temporary cradles were then installed to provide access to the concrete shell to systematically remove the loose concrete in a controlled manner. All work was carried out without any interruption to the site and the chimney remained online during the work scope to make safe the structure.

PTSG has a division of specialists who are trained and certified in different access techniques, employing innovation to find the best method for each unique project. They work on every conceivable kind of tall structure.
