Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a complex procedure to dismantle a redundant 35-metre boiler house chimney for INOVYN, via DWS Engineering Services North East.

Wholly owned by INEOS, one of the world’s largest chemicals companies, INOVYN is the supplier of choice for manufacturers around the world. The company operates a world-scale business across its extensive chlorovinyls activities.

The INOVYN operations at Newton Aycliffe Site focus on the production of a range of PVC grades, which are delivered by road to industrial customers across the UK & Eire and shipped across the rest of the world. The site is the only facility producing suspension PVC resins in the UK.

The plant in County Durham remained fully operational while engineers from PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd managed the dismantling process. This involved cold cutting to separate the chimney sections, as no hot works were permitted within the working area.

The dismantling of the chimney, which was completed quickly and to budget, was praised by DWP Engineering Services North East (acting on behalf of INOVYN), who thanked PTSG for “doing an excellent job on the Boiler 7 Chimney removal. They worked safely and efficiently and we were very happy with their work.”
