PTSG delivers building safety systems for Swedish retail giant

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has secured a significant contract to provide vital access and safety equipment for IKEA’s Exeter store.

The Swedish homeware chain reopened its store in Exeter and 18 other locations at the beginning of June after being shut for several weeks when the COVID-19 lockdown was first put in place. Heightened safety measures in store include cash-only purchasing to cut down on physical contact, mandatory distancing throughout the store enforced by patrolling wardens, and a request to shoppers to visit alone where possible.

Engineers from PTSG Access & Safety Ltd – one of the Group’s four discrete business divisions – will be installing Mansafe systems on the main roof areas of the store’s warehouse. The store was built on a plot of land measuring in the region of 28,000 square metres in area, which gives an idea of the scale of the project.

PTSG has previously delivered specialist services for IKEA. In 2017, engineers from the Group’s Electrical Services division installed a lightning protection system at the Sheffield store, situated next to Meadowhall Retail Park.
