Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a technically complex project leveraging roof access to enhance the interior of John Lewis’ flagship store in Oxford Street, London.
John Lewis is a British brand of high-end department stores operating throughout the United Kingdom. The company also have concessions located in Ireland. From 1925 to 2022, the chain had a policy that it would always at least match a lower price offered by a national high street competitor. The name “Never Knowingly Undersold” identified this pledge.
Engineers from PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd recently completed a project to completely repaint the internal escalators in John Lewis’ famous Oxford Street store. A five-man team of rope access engineers installed rope rigging from the internal roof structure. The process allowed them to access all areas of the escalators.
PTSG’s engineers established encapsulation areas to enable the removal of scaling paintwork. This is done without affecting any of the store’s items for sale. They successfully prepared and painted the escalators to both protect and enhance them aesthetically. The upgrade provides an improved experience for shoppers and staff alike.
This project required immense attention to detail to avoid any interruption to business within the store. They carried out the work over a 20-nightshift period. This enables PTSG’s engineers to bring the project to completion within the agreed timescale. Subsequently, delivering an outstanding quality of workmanship, which was commended by the client.
