PTSG applies high degree of skill at University of Birmingham

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to install specialist access systems at a Grade II-listed building that is being redeveloped for the University of Birmingham.

In December 2018, Birmingham City Council approved plans for the University of Birmingham to refurbish the former Municipal Bank on Broad Street. It was built in 1933 to designs by reputed architect T. Cecil Howitt.

The plans will see the Grade II-listed building, located in the city’s historic Centenary Square, transformed into a new multi-functional facility for the university. Once complete, this city-centre site will support a public programme of cafés and galleries, collaborative workspaces, and places for events, research and meetings.

Engineers from PTSG Access & Safety Ltd will install a range of ManSafe fall arrest equipment to protect workers performing specialist services on the building’s façade.

PTSG works with a large number of historic and listed buildings. They require a particular skill set which goes over and above those employed on modern buildings with no restrictions. PTSG is highly experienced in designing and installing specialist systems and equipment that blend seamlessly with the original design of historic buildings.
