About PTSG. A short history – an incredible story
PTSG was founded in 2007 to fulfil an industry need for a single provider of multiple specialist services to the construction and FM sectors.
Since then, through our commitment to being the best through collaboration, we have created a multinational, multidisciplinary business that delivers industry-leading specialist services including (but not limited to) fall arrest equipment and services, electrical testing, façade maintenance and cleaning, fire solutions and water treatment.
Our multinational presence grew substantially with the acquisition of Flame Control in February 2024. Based in the municipality of Harderwijk, the company specialises in fire alarm systems, first aid, evacuation, extinguishing systems and extinguishing agents. Flame Control has a team of 40 specialists that work extensively across the Netherlands. Their specialists work seven days a week to improve fire safety in businesses and residential properties.
We have achieved year-on-year growth across all five divisions—Access & Safety, Electrical Services, Building Access Specialists, Fire Solutions, and Water Treatment. This growth results from a combination of organic expansion and strategically acquiring businesses that enhance the scope and value of our services.
The Group, headquartered in Castleford, West Yorkshire, employs around 3,000 people in the UK and Europe. This staffing allows us to mobilise our experts to any site, regardless of location. Consequently, we serve more than 200,000 buildings for over 30,000 customers in a wide range of industry sectors.
The PTSG Value Triangle
From single service to a one-stop shop
PTSG stands out by providing a range of specialist services under one roof. This distinction has positioned the Group as offering something extra compared to its single-service competitors. Although many contracts start with a single specialist service or product, PTSG can often identify additional services that are either crucial for the safe operation of a building or could provide additional benefits. Moreover, these additional services come at a substantially lower cost than hiring multiple companies for each specialised service.
Flexible Workplace Solutions
The workplace is changing for all sorts of businesses. Technology has changed our concept of the office and as a consequence, the way in which buildings are used is changing too. PTSG has always anticipated the needs of its clients and endeavoured to meet their changing requirements. Sometimes, a change in compliance laws takes place or what is necessary for keeping building users safe is redefined. PTSG is agile enough to realign itself to meet the changing needs of the workplace – and its business goes from strength to strength as a consequence.
Leaner working environments
Technology-led solutions are driving efficiency in the workplace. Fewer people are required to physically carry out the same tasks. However, a greater use of – and reliance on – technology places different kinds of demands on buildings. One example is building maintenance units. which are becoming ever more sophisticated. PTSG tests and inspects, services and maintains systems for some of the highest-profile buildings in the country.
Many clients demand trade body membership
PTSG holds membership in several trade body organisations. They include ATLAS, which represents the leading players in the lightning protection and specialist access sector since 1946. Another is SAEMA, the only trade association dedicated to raising standards for the UK permanent and temporary access industry. Lastly but not the least is NICEIC, which regulates the training and work of electrical enterprises in the UK. The Group’s authority and quality of work in the various disciplines it operates in are underscored by over 250 accreditations.
Excellent customer service
Above all else, PTSG aims to deliver outstanding customer service. For the past few years, the Group’s contract renewal rate has been above 88%, speaking of the satisfaction amongst clients, who are happy to keep returning to PTSG for the same high standard of service. Clarity, PTSG’s unique proprietary software system, has raised the level of service even further since it began to be rolled out. Engineers are able to generate worksheets, certificates and invoices in seconds, so that as soon as their work is finished, customers can carry on with theirs.
24/7, 365 days a year service
By consistently pursuing a business model that combines organic growth and strategic acquisitions, PTSG has expanded to employ in the region of 3,000 people at a network of UK office locations. This strategic positioning gives the Group a significant advantage in mobilising its engineers to respond to virtually any customer request across the UK. Whether it’s an emergency call for the dismantling of a damaged chimney, as demonstrated in the chemical plant in Glasgow where PTSG provided a solution in under 45 hours in 2021, or a 40-year contract to offer multiple specialist services, as seen with Newcastle Council through first-tier contractor Engie, PTSG is ideally positioned to address such demands.
For every sector.
Collaboration
Working to the principal ‘Best through collaboration’, we believe the key element in any successful relationship is trust. PTSG has always striven to form collaborative working relationships with its clients as this yields far greater results in the provision of high-quality specialist building services. It also allows us to seek new ways and approaches to business in an attempt to innovate and continually improve.
