Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) is celebrating after its apprentices were awarded two highly sought-after industry awards.
Steeplejack apprentice David Dowswell who works within Pendrich Height Services [a company acquired by PTSG in June 2015], was awarded Apprentice of the Year at the Steeplejack and Lightning Protection Training Group (SLPTG) Apprentice Awards awards ceremony in 2018.
Fellow apprentice Michael Bryne was also recognised with a second-place award.
The Apprentice Awards showcase the continued commitment of both the SLPTG and businesses in the lightning protection and specialist access sector, to give specialist training to the next generation. As a training group, the SLPTG is dedicated to supporting the principle of apprenticeships and helps provide support to employers and apprentices to ensure over 20 new operatives qualify every year.
The annual apprentice awards are voted on by other graduates and an ATLAS committee selection panel. It was highlighted that David Dowswell excelled throughout his training.
The Steeplejack and Lightning Protection Training Group (SLPTG) provides a national system for training, qualifications and apprenticeships in the highly specialised trades of steeplejacking and lightning protection. The Training Group provides support for qualifying and training for all levels of the workforce from apprenticeships to supervisory and management, ensuring that its members have competent and qualified operatives.
Celebrating the highest standards for over 70 years, ATLAS is at the forefront of industry developments and committed to improving working practices, technical excellence and the skills of the workforce to provide the highest quality service to the industry’s clients.
ATLAS works with a range of key stakeholders including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), British Standards Institution (BSI), Build UK, and Access Industry Forum (AIF) to influence decisions, raise standards and shape the business environment for the benefit of its members.
With CITB, it created and the SLPTG to provide training and qualifications tailored to the needs of the industry, including apprenticeship programmes offering a formal training route for new entrants.
