Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist Access & Safety services at a men’s prison in Norfolk.

HMP Wayland is a Category C prison located near the village of Griston, near Thetford. Opened in 1985, the facility has been enlarged on three occasions, adding a further 300 cells as well as new workshops and other facilities.

It now comprises 14 residential units and one segregation unit. The majority of the accommodation at the prison is single cell.

Engineers from PTSG Access & Safety Ltd will be repairing all Mansafe systems in place on the roof of the facility. Mansafe systems provide a safe, approved, test and inspected method for operatives to access the roofs of buildings, often close to the leading edge and the fall hazard.

Comprising stainless steel wire rope, posts and fixings, such fall arrest systems are used in conjunction with PPE to limit the distance and consequence of a fall.
