Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has secured a contract to deliver specialist electrical services at the Port of London.
The Port of London is a part of the River Thames, lying between Teddington Lock and the defined boundary with the North Sea and including any associated docks. Once the largest port in the world, it is the UK’s third-busiest container port, with the Port of Felixstowe being the busiest and Southampton the second busiest.
The Port of London can handle cruise liners, roll-on roll-off ferries and cargo of all types: timber, paper, vehicles, aggregates, crude oil, petroleum products, liquefied petroleum gas, coal, metals, grain and other dry and liquid bulk materials. As with many similar historic European ports, such as Antwerp and Rotterdam, many activities have steadily moved downstream towards the open sea as ships have grown larger and the land upriver taken over for other uses.
In this new five-year contract, engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd will carry out periodic testing and inspection of the lightning protection system in place at the port. PTSG will perform any remedial works necessary to ensure compliance with industry regulations at the Port of London.
