Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialists electrical services at Printworks – a former nightclub and events venue in South London.
Situated in Rotherhithe, in the former Harmsworth Quays printing plant, Printworks was opened as a venue in 2017. It was described by Mixmag as “the saviour London clubbing desperately needed” and as “one of the most striking venues the capital city, if not the country, has to offer”. The venue was repeatedly voted into the “Top 100 Clubs” list by the readers of DJ Magazine.
In autumn 2021, the owners of the site, British Land, submitted plans to Southwark Council to redevelop the site into office buildings which would involve the demolition of the Printworks venue. Printworks held its final event on 1 May 2023.
The proposed new development celebrates many of the building’s original features, including the press halls, building spine and the central void, which will act as an atrium. The centrepiece of British Land’s Canada Water Masterplan, the project will re-purpose the Harmsworth Quay Printworks to provide an innovative mixed-use destination.
In this this contract, engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd will install a new lighting protection system at the redeveloped site. This will provide protection for the buildings and their users in the event of an electrical storm.
