Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a project to deliver specialist passive fire services at one of the UK’s largest universities in West Yorkshire.

The university is located in West Yorkshire. Established in 1874, King Edward VII granted it a royal charter in 1904. It is the eleventh-largest university in the UK by total enrolment and receives over 67,000 undergraduate applications per year.

The university has 1,230 acres of land in total, with the main campus in West Yorkshire occupying 98 acres and will benefit from PTSG fire services It is comprised of a mixture of late-19th century and 20th century buildings. In 2010, English Heritage recommended that the university’s post-war buildings become Grade II listed buildings.

Since 2008, the university has spent over £300m on new educational, research, residential and leisure facilities. They are spending a further £80 million to improve current assets. The programme of this expansion constitutes one of the largest capital investment projects in British higher education.

In this project, engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd delivered a range of fire solutions. These include door inspections, surveys and remedial works (on almost 2,000 doors). Other services include compartmentation surveys and related remedial works at residential buildings at four different sites.

PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd is the largest of the Group’s five independent business divisions. It delivers a full range of services to clients in a wide variety of sectors encompassing fire detection and alarm systems, fire suppression, passive fire services and security systems.
