Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has secured a contract to deliver specialist fire solutions at a major shopping centre in Hertford.

The Bircherley Green Shopping Centre was built in the early 1980s on land that had previously been a large bus station and car park, together with a shopping arcade, disused grain store and maltings. The estate now owned by Chase New Homes Ltd, based in Welwyn Garden City.

Following the granting of planning permission, the first phase of redevelopment of the shopping centre started in August 2018. The second phase would see the remodelling of the former Waitrose store and development of the first phase of buildings facing the river front. The third phase may allow creation of a new Bircherley Square, with the redevelopment of the existing buildings to the western edge of the site. The fourth and final phase would include the redevelopment of the existing Boots store.

Engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will deliver residential and commercial sprinklers as well as dry riser systems throughout the newly redeveloped shopping centre. Sprinkler systems are the most effective fire suppressant available, while dry risers are fitted to allow the fire brigade to connect to the water supply quickly and easily. In combination, these measures provide ample protection for buildings and users in the event of a fire.
