Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a specialist services project for Forbo Flooring UK Ltd in Scotland.

After weeks of planning, engineers from PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd safely dismantled a 30-metre multiflued chimney at the Forbo Flooring UK Ltd linoleum factory in Fife.

The chimney had been redundant for a number of years and the asset was an ongoing cost to the client to annually inspect and maintain. The business made a decision to remove the chimney to save this ongoing cost.

Utilising steeplejack techniques, ladders were erected to two diametrically elevations to allow PTSG’s steeplejacks full access to cut around the windshield and inner flues to separate the chimney into 10meter 8000kg sections. The chimney was lifted to ground level by a 100-tonne mobile crane and loaded straight onto a waiting low loader truck for immediate disposal from site. The pre- preparation of the chimney took five working days and did not interfere with the site production; the chimney was dismantled and removed from the site during the weekend.

The client was keen to pass on his praise to PTSG for its workmanship and customer care.
