Founded in 1910, Brighton City Airport isalso commonly known as Shoreham Airport. It is the oldest airport in the UK and the oldest purpose-built commercial airport in the world still in operation. It is now owned by Brighton City Airport Ltd (BCAL). The 1930s Art Deco terminal building, designed by R Stavers Hessell Tiltman, holds a grade II listing. The airport is 1 NM (1.9 km; 1.2 mi) west of Shoreham-by-Sea at Lancing, Adur district of West Sussex. . Immediately to the north of the West Coastway is the railway line.
Film-makers seeking to portray a small town airport have used Brighton City Airport. This is due to its listed period facilities. and art deco main building. Filmmakers also use the airport for historical reconstructions of airport scenes from the 1930s onwards. The airport has appeared in the Netflix TV series The Crown and three episodes of Agatha Christie’s Poirot (“The Adventure of the Western Star”, “Death in the Clouds” and “Lord Edgware Dies”). The films The Da Vinci Code and Woman in Gold also used external shots of the airport. The feature-length documentaries Angel Without Wings and A Dark Reflection utilized the airport.
PTSG has recently won a contract with Glencar Construction. In this contract, engineers from PTSG Access & Safety Ltd will deliver seven bespoke access platforms to house harvest tanks. These bespoke access platforms would give the user safe access from the ground level to roof level.
PTSG has completed specialist services contracts at many different airports around the UK. This includes both passenger airports and military airfields for the RAF. The Group’s engineers install a variety of fall protection equipment, as well as returning for periodic testing and inspection. Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd have also installed lightning protection systems – again, returning to carry out periodic testing and inspection.
