Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), via constituent company Neo Property Services (Neo), has been contracted to provide specialist passive fire services at an energy recovery facility in south-east London.
Engineers from Neo will carry out inspections to 20 fire doors within the facility. As a critical infrastructure site processing around 400,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste annually, the facility operates under strict environmental permit controls and must maintain uninterrupted operations to manage London’s waste efficiently. Inspections must therefore be carefully planned to align with the site’s operational demands and stringent health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
One of the key challenges is access. The industrial nature of the site means that fire doors are located within high-risk operational areas, such as waste handling zones and control rooms, where safety protocols, such as PPE requirements and permit-to-work systems, must be strictly adhered to. Neo’s inspectors, being fully trained and competent to operate in such environments, have an intimate understanding of both the technical requirements of fire door inspections and the site’s safety procedures. Coordinating with site management to schedule inspections during planned downtime or lower-activity periods will be essential to avoid disrupting critical processes and to ensure the safety of both the inspection team and facility personnel.
