ZeroWasteWeek is an award-winning, grassroots annual awareness campaign that takes place online and on-the-ground. It helps householders, businesses, organisations, schools, universities and community groups reduce landfill waste, save money, preserve resources and protect the environment.
Reducing waste is one of a wide range of measures that Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has implemented as part of its overall ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) strategy. As PTSG occupies a significant part of the supply chain in the construction and FM sectors, it can ensure its c3,000 people act in a responsible way at all times – on and off site. The company can also aim to influence the behaviour of those it works with.
For a number of years Trinity, part of PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd, has been proactive in implementing sustainability initiatives that have a real and lasting impact on the communities in which its engineers work.
This year, Trinity has invested in a cardboard shredder at its warehouse. This has seen the removal of all plastic packaging from its logistics operations. Cardboard shredders provide an efficient means of recycling cardboard but also offer businesses an opportunity to create their own, free eco-friendly packaging materials. As we move towards a more sustainable future, these machines are playing a pivotal role in reducing waste and minimising our environmental footprint.
Zero Waste Week was founded by Rachelle Strauss in 2008. It always takes place the week beginning the first Monday in September, so the dates change each year. In 2024, it takes place from 2-6 September.
