Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), via the hire division of constituent company NSS, has delivered specialist hire platforms at this year’s Wimbledon Championships.
The world’s most famous tennis tournament is staged at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club every July. The club was founded in 1868 at the height of the croquet craze. The then-infant sport of lawn tennis was introduced in 1875.
The club currently has 18 tournament grass courts, eight American clay courts, two acrylic courts and six indoor courts. The current Centre Court dates from 1922. Centre Court and No.1 Court both have retractable roofs enabling play to go ahead regardless of the weather. Centre Court seats 15,000 people, while No.1 Court holds around 11,500 people. There are around 42,000 spectators in the club at any one time.
In this contract, PTSG’s hire platforms allow television cameras to broadcast some spectacular views of the matches. PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd supplies a variety of powered access platforms across the UK, Ireland and even mainland Europe. Its largest truck-mounted access platform has a maximum working height of 53 metres.
