Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist Access & Safety services, specifically, guardrails for the Main Library at the University of Edinburgh.
The Main Library is the largest of University of Edinburgh’s Libraries. As well as supporting the arts, humanities, social sciences, medicine and informatics, the Main Library also houses the general collections of books and periodicals, older books in all subjects, and the Centre for Research Collections with special collections of rare books and manuscripts, the University archives and the Lothian Health Services Archive.
The University was founded by the town council under the authority of a royal charter of King James VI in 1582 and officially opened in 1583. The three main global university rankings (QS, THE, and ARWU) all place Edinburgh within their respective top 40.
As well as supporting the arts, humanities, social sciences, medicine and informatics, the Main Library also houses the general collections of books and periodicals, older books in all subjects, and the Centre for Research Collections with special collections of rare books and manuscripts, the University archives and the Lothian Health Services.
In this contract, engineers form PTSG Access & Safety Ltd will be installing free-standing guardrails to the roof of the main library. This is specialist fall arrest equipment, which enables maintenance operatives to carry out their work in absolute safety.
