A landmark residential development in Birmingham has contracted Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) to deliver specialist fire solutions.
Great Charles Street is located in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter and will benefit from PTSG’s specialist fire solutions. A development team is transforming a 2.6-acre undeveloped brownfield site into a vibrant urban village.” The transformation will reflect the character of this historic area.
Standing at 39-storeys high, the development will provide 722 new homes for rent. Facilities such as a gym, green spaces, roof terraces, communal lounges and co-working space are also provided in the development. Other features include a ground floor boutique retail and café-bars to offer next-generation living within the city. This heavily contributes to the site owner Birmingham City Council’s ‘Big City Plan’ to create 5,000 new homes whilst valuing the city’s heritage and cultural assets.
In this contract, engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will install a sprinkler system throughout the new development. This will help give the building and all users the highest degree of safety in the event of a fire.
Today, people widely use the automatic fire sprinkler system as the primary fire protection system. This system has been in used since 1872. These systems, as per various automatic fire sprinkler standards, aim to protect property and life. The buildings protected from fire losses by sprinklers are estimated to be 1 in 10 of those in unprotected buildings.
