Government and Public Sector

PTSG is proud to have provided a wide portfolio of specialist services to a number of offices of the UK central and local government and the public sector over the last decade and a half.

The central government has a complex system of government offices and departments. These offices and departments are  responsible for various aspects of governance, public administration, and service delivery.

As of 2019, there are around 120 government ministers. These ministers are supported by 560,000 civil servants and other staff working in 25 ministerial departments and their executive agencies. There are also an additional 20 non-ministerial departments with a range of further responsibilities.

The public sector delivers a wide range of services, including education, healthcare, law enforcement, transportation, and social services. Public services are often provided by government agencies, local authorities, and public corporations.

Law enforcement services are provided by police forces across the UK. Each country has its own police forces (e.g. Metropolitan Police Service in London, Police Scotland, and Police Service of Northern Ireland).

Social services, including welfare and support for vulnerable populations, are typically managed by local authorities and social service agencies.

PTSG works extensively with central government and the public sector and has amassed a wide portfolio of contracts:

  • In 2022, PTSG’s Water Treatment engineers installed incredibly powerful magnetic filtration along with fine cartridge or bag filtration (X-POT XP) for The Ministry of Defence (MoD)..
  • At the start of 2022, PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd completed a project for Blackpool Council to remove the famous Blackpool High Tide Organ, which had fallen into disrepair since it was created in 2002.
  • PTSG provided a full clean of the windows at the iconic BBC Broadcasting House. The BBC is a public corporation of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
  • The Department for Work and Pensions. The Group’s Access & Safety engineers carried out the testing of fall arrest equipment at sites throughout the UK – in accordance with SFG20.
  • The Home Office. PTSG’s Electrical Services engineers delivered portable appliance testing (PAT) and electrical installation condition reporting (EICR) at over 200 sites nationwide for the Home Office and Ministry of Justice.
