Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) is currently delivering specialist electrical services in a prestigious contract for Manchester Town Hall.
Manchester Town Hall is a Victorian, Neo-gothic municipal building that is the ceremonial headquarters of Manchester City Council and houses a number of local government departments. The building faces Albert Square to the north and St Peter’s Square to the south, with Manchester Cenotaph facing its southern entrance.
Designed by architect Alfred Waterhouse, the town hall was completed in 1877. In a 2014 report, Manchester City Council highlighted the need to replace the building’s heating and electrical systems, refurbish windows and high-level stonework and repair parts of the roofing. This work, including work on improving the adjoining square, is scheduled for completion in 2024.
Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd have delivered protective earthing and Lightning Protection removal and reinstallation works on this project to date and are expected to be required until 2024.
PTSG is the UK’s leading provider of lightning protection services. One of its constituent companies, JW Gray, was founded in 1835 and is believed to be the oldest trading company delivering lightning protection services in the UK, possibly even in Europe.
