Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist electrical services at a major residential development in South London.
Redman House, which is in the London Borough of Southwark, has undergone a refurbishment programme. The phased refurbishment on the 14-storey block included rewiring of flats and core areas, installation of new heating systems, making good and redecoration. Works included the replacement of the windows and installation of new kitchen units. A new membrane and plant enclosure were constructed on the roof and the roof coverings on the external garages were replaced.
Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd will install a brand-new lightning protection system to protect Redman House and its residents from future lightning strikes.
Tall buildings are often targets for lightning strikes, which are extremely high-current discharges of electricity. Lightning can occur between or within highly charged clouds or from a cloud to earth. These discharges can range from about 10 million to 100 million volts. In England thunderstorms are more likely in the East Midlands and South East areas.
