Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has given Jack Phelps a new start in life, after the 20-year-old was battling mental health issues and facing rejection from the jobs he was applying for.
Jack is the son of Rob Phelps, an NVQ Level 3 Lightning Protection Test & Inspection Engineer working for PTSG Electrical Services Ltd. Jack had previously suffered years of anxiety and had been taking medication for the last two years to try and suppress the mental health issues that had caused depression. He was beginning to turn a corner and just needed an opportunity to enable him to put his issues behind him and make the most of his potential.
His father, Rob, contacted Jennifer Weller, Operations Manager within PTSG’s Lightning Protection Maintenance division in the north-west, to ask if it would be possible to start Jack working in a trainee position with PTSG.
Jack’s story really stood out to Jennifer – especially the way other companies may have been rejecting him for wrong reasons and failing to see his true potential.
Jack was given an apprenticeship with PTSG and after just three days, he already feels his life is already turning around. His father has seen a change in Jack, and something that has been missing for a long time – a smile on his face.
Jack spent his first day completing the intensive but hugely important health and safety inductions to prepare him for the safety-critical work of a test and inspection engineer. He is now fully committed to his day job and relishes having something to look forward to each day.
Rob Phelps has personally thanked Jennifer Weller and PTSG for this opportunity that has transformed young Jack’s life.
PTSG recently announced that another of its young engineers, Callum Griffiths, received the SLPTG Apprentice of the Year Award. PTSG has a strong record of working with apprentices and bringing them into the company as fully trained professionals. Best wishes to both Callum and Jack for a successful career with the company.
