Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has delivered specialist services for a unique office building in west London.
The Ark is a striking office building located in Hammersmith, London. Designed by architect Ralph Erskine, the building is so-called due to its hull-like profile. The 10-storey copper and glass building was completed in 1992 but remained empty until recent years.
Engineers from PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd were asked to conduct a façade inspection of all frames, gaskets and seals in conjunction with, and under the direction of, Cladtech. Access to those areas that were particularly challenging was gained via a mixture of PASMA towers (mobile access towers) and abseil techniques.
PTSG’s engineers are specialists in abseil or rope access and all individuals are IRATA trained. This is generally regarded as the safest and most effective method of gaining access to the façade of buildings. Engineers can reach virtually any area quickly and easily, cutting down on the cost of more expensive equipment such as scaffolding.
