Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist electrical services to protect the Grade I listed Manchester Town Hall.
Designed by Alfred Waterhouse in 1877, Manchester Town Hall is a beautiful Victorian neo-Gothic building situated in the heart of the city. It is undergoing a multi-million-pound restoration package due to be complete in 2024. Led by acclaimed architectural firm Purcell, works include replacing the entire wiring and plumbing throughout the building and adding modern facilities, including communication links, which will make the building far more functional, sustainable and easier to maintain.
PTSG will be part of the restoration; engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd will create structural lightning protection and protective earthing systems safeguarding the building and its users going forward. The Group is proud to contribute to the aims of the project to transform the town hall back to its former civic glory.
PTSG is one of the UK’s leading providers of lightning protection services. It operates throughout the UK, working on historic buildings such as Manchester Town Hall as well as brand new skyscrapers – and all types of structures in between. One of its constituent companies, JW Gray, is believed to be the oldest trading provider of lightning protection services in the UK and possibly even in Europe.
