Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to provide specialist electrical services at HMP Durham.

HM Prison Durham is a Georgian era reception Category B men’s prison, located in the Elvet area of Durham in County Durham, England. Built in 1819, the prison continues to be operated by Her Majesty’s Prison Service. Since 2005 it has been a male-only prison. It holds around 1,000 inmates.

Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd will test and inspect the lightning protection system in place at the prison. Work includes verifying the installation is operating in accordance with the correct specification and compliant with all current legislation.

PTSG is one of the UK’s leading providers of design, installation, testing, inspection and maintenance of lightning protection and surge protection systems. During the inspections it carries out, the mechanical condition of all conductors, bonds, joints and earth electrodes is checked and the observations noted. These periodic inspections and tests indicate what maintenance, if any, is needed.

Please note that this story was published during the Coronavirus pandemic period. During this time, everyone at PTSG continues to adhere to all public health and government advice. This announcement is for information purposes only.
